Best time to visitGetting thereWhere to stayContact

The 650 sq km Bhitar Kanika National Park, located in a secluded mangrove area on the delta of the river Brahmahani in the Baleshwar district of the state of Orissa, is one of the few marine parks in India. Once the preserve of the royal family of Raj Kanika, the park was established to protect the saltwater crocodile and other marine inhabitants of the region. It has been given the special status of "Crocodile Sanctuary" and a saltwater crocodile-breeding centre has been established here by the Orissa Government.

Best Time to Visit

November to February.

The temperature varies between a maximum of 34°C in summer (March to May) to a minimum of 13°C in winter, with a distinct drop in November.
